OVER 100 NIGERIANS DIE IN GHANA PRISON by Francis Okoye

According to a message from Mr. Emma Emeka, an inmate of a maximum security prison in Ghana, over 100 Nigerians died in Ghana prison within an 8 years period.

He reveals that about 800 – 1000 Nigerians are in prison in the 46 prisons scattered all over Ghana.
Most of these prisoners have spent 8 years, 10 years, 15 years, and 20 years etc in prison in Ghana already. They have sentences ranging from 50years, 70 years, 100 years, 150 years, and 200 years for various offences.
Emma is serving his 8 years in 130 years sentence. We call on the Nigerian government to wake up to its duties and responsibilities by taking interest in the affairs of the Nigerians in oversea prisons, especially in Ghana.
We strongly call on government to do everything possible to bring back Nigerians in prison in Ghana, to come back to Nigeria and serve their remaining terms – not the bogus terms and long prison terms imposed on inmates of Nigerians origin in Ghanaian prisons – not to talk of other forms of abuse melted out to them unchallenged.
