Justice Jude Obiora and members of his family recently buried their father, late Chief Christopher Obi Obiora (Jp) on Jan 20th 2017 at


Ossomala in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Speaking at the burial mass which had the chief celebrant as Very Rev. Fr. Dominic Chukwudi Parish Priest, St. Theresa Okwe with over 20 priests from Isseleuku diocese, I from Nnewi diocese and 2 from Onitsha diocese, Rev Fr. Rom Onyekwu described the deceased as someone who stood firm in Christ and refused to bow to pressure to offer sacrifices. ‘He is somebody that gave his time, wealth, and the little that God gave him to the parish. He was always there at 3pm for Divine Mercy Prayer at His Parish at Asaba. I met him during family thanksgiving, after which he was taken to hospital. God loved him so much and made him know that his death is near and he prepared for it.
In attendance at the well parked burial mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ossomala were legal, Judiciary and Government dignitaries which included the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, Hon Oseloka Obaze, former SSG to Governor, Chief Prof Joseph Azike-Chief of Staff to Governor Willie Obiano, Barr Hany Udo-Head of Service Anambra State, Hon Justice E A Nzegwu Rtd Chief judge emeritus, Hon Justice PAC Obidigwe, -another retired Chief Judge of Anambra State. Hon Justice Anyachelu of Nnewi High Court division, Hon Justice Okwudili Ezeoke, Hon Justice C Okah, President Customary Court of Appeal, Hon Justice S.N Okoye, Hon E.D Chukwuma, Attorney General Emeritus, His Hon Ken Nwoye Chief registrar-court of appeal, Executive secretary, judiciary service commission, Mr. C.O Nnabuihe, Hon Somto Udeze of house of Assembly-Ogbaru representative, Barr. Chude Obieze, chairman emeritus, NBA Onitsha, magistrates, Deputy Chief Registrars, Anambra State judiciary, learned president of customary court etc.
Also heavily present were members of justice obiora’s Parish –St. Theresa Okwe, and his father’s parish-St. Patrick’s cable point Asaba and St. Albert Chaplaincy Asaba.
The remains of Pa Obiora were later laid to rest at the residence of his son, justice Obiora.
Pa Obiora was born in Asaba on 25th December 1933 into the family of late Okpala Uzor Obiora and Odoziaku Amede Obiora of Umuchi village, Ossomala in Ogbaru L.G.A. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School Asaba, St. Thomas’s College, Ibusa, University of Benin where he bagged B.ED in History. He worked as a teacher, principal and later proprietor of love centre group of school, Asaba. In 1983, he contested the gubernatorial election in Anambra State as Deputy Governorship candidate under unity party of Nigeria. A devote and practicing Catholic. After the burial, more guests, tropped in. including Hon justice Okuma, Barr. PA Afuba, former commissioner for justice Anambra, Barr. Emeka Anienugu SAN, and Barr. Obi of PA Afuba, OBI, Anienugu & CO chambers among several other legal luminaries, traditional Rulers and Top Government functionaries.
